ABOUT US

As well as being stunningly beautiful, forests are vital for the health of our planet. They provide food and shelter for so much of life on Earth – from fungi and insects to tigers and elephants. More than half the world's land-based plants and animals, and three-quarters of all birds, live in and around forests.

Forests have a big influence on rainfall patterns, water and soil quality and flood prevention too. Billions of people rely directly on forests as their home or for making a living. Forest loss and damage is the cause of around 10% of global warming as deforestation and forest fires release emissions. There is simply no way we can fight the climate crisis if we don’t stop deforestation by tree planting mitigation. An estimated 10 million hectares of forest is destroyed every year (as per earth.org). To put this into perspective this is the size of Switzerland, the Netherlands and Slovenia combined.

There used to be 6 Trillion trees. About half of that number have been cut down. If we planted a Trillion trees about a quarter of the excess carbon dioxide in the air could be drawn down over the coming decades. Every tree helps.

Special Offer

For a limited time only. Every tree planted on your behalf will be matched so you can make twice the difference fighting climate change and offset twice as much carbon.

OUR PROJECTS

Ongoing treemissions

Treemissions is a global initiative aimed at combating deforestation and climate change. Our initial focus is on East Africa, South America, and Asia, where we aim to regenerate forests and grasslands to help ensure the survival of their wildlife and biodiversity. Forests play a key role in the mitigation of climate change, removing an estimates 16 billion tonnes of Carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere annually, equalling about half of the annual CO2 released from burning fossil fuels. We will plant as many as possible, and as they grow, they will sequester more and more carbon.
